I need help.  Not the kind most of you mutter under your breath about me needing.  I need help with identifying a good projector to play games with.  I am a big fan of sofa play, where I share my gaming with someone in the same room.  Though I can live with a small sofa, I am starting to push the limits of my 32 inch TV.  For a good laugh, try playing vertical split screen Rainbow Six Vegas 2 on that thing.
Sadly, I am alone in a wilderness when i try to get my team’s help in identifying new gear.  One of them has a TV the size of an El Dorado hanging on the wall of his palatial estate.  Another has 6 and a half TVs spread across his living room, just in case he wants to play Halo 3, Gears of War and watch American Idol at [...]

We produce a weekly video segment for Inside Xbox, “Pick Up & Play”, where we discuss games that are easy for people to play together with their gaming-neutral loved ones. Preparing for the show generates extra nervousness which we try to dissipate by warming up. The detritus of that warmup session is scraped together into this here warmup video.
This week, we answer three pieces of viewer mail. People wrote in about poorly rehearsed content, gaming wives, and Inside Xbox in Australia.

Want to see something uncanny?  That Nelson is a mysterious cat to begin with, but take a look at something.

If he emails you for Overnight Success, or an interview opportunity - I would do my best to respond immediately - especially with this newfound information.
(I especially like the happy Horstachio poster over his left (our right) shoulder.)

Nelson and I took a short trip down to Pop Cap (which is literally 10-15 minutes from work) and had a chance to talk to VP of Platforms (and Xbox Alumni) Greg Canessa.
He was generous to answer some questions given to him by the community.  It’s sort of like Voltron where to get the full robot interview you need to visit all the different sites and watch the pieces.
Big shout-out to the fine folks at Pop Cap Games for their hospitality.

We had a few extra minutes, so we thought that we’d ask Greg a few questions from the Gamerscore Team.

Go ahead and say I’m biased, but Xbox LIVE is the best online service for a console, period. They say the proof is in the pudding, so enjoy a giant bowl of delicious Xbox LIVE pudding as we talk about some of the new features in the Fall Update.
While we have already talked about the new Parental Timer, Games on Demand, and the Friends of Friends features, the lovely and talented Nelson Rodriguez has put together a video featuring the lovely and talented Tony and Chris to talk about some of the new features.  The video shows the beta version, so expect some visual changes for the actual launch.

For those of you that prefer “reading”, here are some of the details:
Xbox LIVE Arcade Hits - There will be permanent discounts on some of the best-selling Arcade titles. The first games to become Arcade Hits will be “Bankshot Billiards 2” and [...]

Imagine it is the Monday before Thanksgiving.  You’re staring down the barrel of a long holiday weekend, you’ve been denied preorders at every store in town, and your team copy of Rock Band is missing in action.  That is no campfire horror story, but our real life.  Our latest documentary captured the drama as it unfolded.

Epilogue:  After the video was shot (and after many calls and driving adventures), we turned to the highest authorities in the land.  Our significant others found us each a Rock Band bundle.  The moral to the story, never give up hope.  To say this game is awesome is almost an insult to the game experience.  You have to play it to believe it.
(This entire blog post is based on actual events.  No ears were harmed while filming.)

You get the point that LIVE is 5 now, so we won’t mention that LIVE is 5.  We WILL mention that Carcassonne is available free for 48 hours. (starting this morning) to download.
We noticed on the forums some people didn’t understand Carcassonne, so Nelson and I thought it’d be a good idea to do a tutorial.
Tony and John called us to say that we didn’t have time to do the video.  I wonder how they knew…

We decided that it was worth 90 seconds to explain that Carcassonne is an XBLA version of a popular German strategy board game.
The gist is that you are trying to get points by expanding your territory through roads, castles, monasteries, and farms - while preventing the other players from expanding.  It’s sort of like the movie Scarface, but with medieval French farmers.
Each turn you draw one of 71 tiles at random, and place it on [...]

This week, John and Tony are away, so Nelson and I have free reign MUHAHAHA!
We did a little different recording, this was a straight shot, no editing, talk for 30-35 minutes and then stop.  Let us know how you like it as it was INCREDIBLY easy on me to edit it - just add music.  An unfortunate side-effect is that there are no outros this week.
Also, with the new Zune Client currently unable to edit metadata tags *ahem*, I had to do it elsewhere, I apologize if our tags are now screwed up - let us know if anyone has issues.
