How Could A Game Called "Wet" Get Anyone’s Attention?

How could you not wantto play this chick? Thanks Gamespot! Very rarely do I buy into any hype, including what is coming from my very fingers right now but I had to share my excitement for the possibility of this game. After following some questionable Twitter chatter, I saw this game title mentioned. The name of this game? “Wet” and the main character is called Rubi. For those who haven’t heard of it, get your kindergarten giggles out of the way like I did about an hour ago and check it out: Rubi is a problem solver - she uses her insane acrobatic skills to dispose of her enemies.  From the trailer and screenshots, she looks to sport a nice pistol for some good ole shooting action but also a sword for some more refined feminine slashing. If things turn out as I would hope, what joy could be had by shooting an enemy and then being able to add insult to injury by some slicing [...]

When Brain Challenge Turns Personal

DirtyDiva article, brought to you using rss feeds. I found it informative and I think you will too.

I’m sure many of you have had those times where you wish you could just reach through the screen and strangle your best friend who ridicules you after one bad round of a game. You know, when you weren’t quite warmed up or you just weren’t paying attention. Gone are the days of System Link Halo:CE where a swift slap to the face or a punch in the ribs was entirely possible instead of some “weak sauce” verbal abuse. To get to my point in all of this, I was invited to a friendly game of Brain Challenge this evening. I, in no way, believe myself to be any Einstein but I do believe I can hold my own. Well, hold my own in anything but math. To my chagrin, I was dealt 8 - yes EIGHT math cards. I failed miserably and instead of a friendly ribbing, I had the [...]

This morning, I was asked to talk to a class at the University of Washington about women in gaming, community aspects and how the GamerchiX group helps female gamers. The name of the class is ”The Future of Chick Lit” and is taught by former MS employee, Wanda Gregory. It’s a class that aims to encourage more females to not only enjoy playing games, but to hopefully inspire them to develop them. Hey, surprise! TriXie, Kitty and I have the same aspirations!   It was interesting to see that many did not know about things on the Xbox such as Achievements, Xbox LIVE Arcade, the web presence (forums), etc. I got to explain how all of these things make the system so great for someone like me. When I ran through the disgusting amount of arcade games I have, I heard many oohs and ahhs for things like Frogger, Sonic and Dig Dug. It made me proud that these games are still [...]
