I just saw a post this morning about Sean Lyndersay’s new Sidebar gadget called the “WebSlice Viewer Gadget.” This brilliant little creation brings IE8’s WebSlices (bits of web content that you can access from the new IE8 Favorites Bar) right to your desktop via a simple Vista Sidebar gadget.
The gadget, currently in alpha (you’ve been warned!), requires Vista (unknown if x64 supported, but let us know), IE8, and a web page that has some WebSlices. Each instance of the WebSlice Viewer shows only one WebSlice, so you will need to open multiple gadgets to show multiple views.
You can download the WebSlice gadget from Sean’s SkyDrive.

A new Vista sidebar gadget brings the power of your favorite social network to your desktop. The MyFacebook gadget shows you if you have new messages in your Facebook inbox, new pokes, friend requests, lets you see your friends’ albums, friend lists, events, and shows you your status as well as a scrolling display of your friends’ statuses. You can also update your status right from the gadget. Once you’ve installed the gadget, you’ll need to authorize it, then log in and add the feeds it requests. The gadget isn’t perfect (yet), but it’s certainly a great start. Let’s tell the widget author thanks for feeding our Facebook addiction! (Via InsideMicrosoft)

Attention sports fans! Here are 3 must-have Vista sidebar gadgets that any NFL fan must have:
1. The NFL News Gadget: This gadget can be configured to either show you the latest headlines for the entire league or you can change it to just show you the news about your favorite team.
2. The NFL Scores Gadget: This gadget shows you your team’s current score for the ongoing game or it will display who they are playing next & when.
3. The Sports News Gadget: This gadget displays general sports news but can be customized to just show news from a specific sport like football, baseball, basketball, hockey, etc.
